Mental Health Resources

аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½± partners with Winona State University to offer counseling services to support your mental health. Appointments are free of charge and can take place on campus in Winona, at Winona State University, or online via Zoom. All students including those in online programs are encouraged to use these free resources.

WSU Counseling Services

As a student you have access to Winona State University's Counseling Services at any time. To schedule, call 507-457-5330 or email counselingservices@winona.edu and indicate that you are a Southeast student. Appointments are available on campus at WSU in the Integrated Wellness Complex Room 222 () or online via Zoom.

Emergency Help: If you're in a mental health crisis, a WSU counselor is available for emergency appointments Monday-Friday from 12-3:30pm. Call or come directly to Counseling Services and inform the front desk you need to see a counselor as soon as possible. They will do their best to see you right away. If you need an immediate response outside of these hours, contact one of the crisis/emergency resources below.

Serena Bohn - WSU Counselor: Serena Bohn is a licensed professional counselor with her master's degree in clinical mental health from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Serena's goal is to foster hope, resiliency, independence, and assist in growing your self-awareness. She often explores the past as a tool to help you shape the present, works with you on building self-compassion, and uses awareness of your thoughts to help you address your behaviors to create more informed choices now and in your future.

Serena is on the Winona campus every Tuesday during the academic semester from 8 am to 3 pm. Starting in Fall Semester, you can make an appointment to meet with Serena on campus or online during her office hours.

Referring Students for Help

If you are concerned about the well-being of a student, you are encouraged to refer them to the Southeast Care Team. Make a referral using our . A Care Team member will reach to the student to offer assistance.

 

Physical Health Resources

Taking care of your physical health is vital to ensuring you can keep up with your academics, family life, job, and more. If you live outside of Winona or Red Wing, go to the United Way 211 resource hub to find physical health resources in your area.

Winona

  • Winona Health: 855 Mankato Ave., Winona, MN 55987. Call 507-454-3650.
  • Gundersen Health System: 1122 West Hwy 61, Winona, MN 55987. Call 507-615-0600.
  • : 420 E. Sarnia St., Ste. 1600, Winona, MN 55987. Call 507-452-4307. The Semcac Family Planning Clinic offers birth control and contraception; hormone therapy; STI/STD testing, treatment, and prevention; and education.
  • : Call 507-457-2891 to schedule an appointment at one of their locations. Bridges Health Winona offers preventative health services including health screenings, foot and nail care, primary care services and more that are delivered by WSU health profession students who are supervised by clinical faculty and licensed clinicians. They do not require health insurance or bill health insurance.

Red Wing

  • Mayo Clinic Health System: 701 Hewitt Blvd, Red Wing, MN 55066. Call 651-267-5000.
  • : 906 College Ave., Red Wing, MN 55066. Call 651-388-1022. The CARE Clinic is free for underserved low-income residents of Goodhue County and Lake City who are uninsured. The clinic provides medical, dental, and mental health care including Hispanic family therapy.
  • : 1614 W. Third St., Red Wing, MN 55066. Call 651-267-4357. First Choice Clinic offers pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, STD/STI testing and treatment, and education.

 

Wellness Resources

Taking care of yourself is important to your success! Access to these services is available to currently enrolled students.

Winona State University Fitness Center

Through a partnership with Winona State University, Southeast students have full access to WSU's . To gain access, simply show your Southeast student ID at the Technical Support Center in Somsen Hall 207 to receive an IWC access card that you can use to scan in to use the facility. Facilities include: The facility's recreational area includes:

  • Suspended walk/jog track
  • Weights
  • Basketball court
  • Workout equipment
  • Specialized fitness areas and classes

Red Wing YMCA

Red Wing campus students are eligible for a free membership at the . Family membership and drop-in childcare are available for a discounted additional monthly cost. Membership provides access to:

  • Fitness classes
  • 2 gyms with weight lifting racks
  • Indoor track
  • Rock-climbing wall
  • 2 indoor pools with lap lanes, sauna, and hot tub

Serenity Space

The Serenity Space is a quiet, private space on campus for various uses including mothering needs, prayer, meditation, or if you just need a moment to yourself to relax and regroup.

The Pantry

If you're struggling with having enough food to eat, stop by one of our free food pantries. The Pantries are self-serve - help yourself! They are stocked with a variety of household staples including cereal, pasta, meat, canned food, dairy products, bakery items, and fresh produce. Pick up items when money is tight, donate items when the time is right!
