Study Liberal Arts & Sciences Online

We are proud that аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½± was one of the very first colleges in the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system to offer accredited online classes. You can earn credits toward completion of an A.A.S. in Individualized Studies or the Minnesota Transfer Package Curriculum through online study. See this page for a list of online courses in Liberal Arts & Sciences. Courses marked with an asterisk are offered online.

Distance learning provides flexibility and convenience by allowing you to complete coursework outside of regular classroom hours. We have students enrolled from all over the country — even from around the world — because of the quality of our courses and relatively low cost per credit.

There are two types of online courses:

  • Fully Online Courses: All course requirements can be completed at a distance. There are no on-campus meetings, except for perhaps one meeting at the beginning of the course. Fully online courses may require proctored tests in a secured environment either at the college campus or at a suitable educational center (e.g., college, library).
  • Hybrid Courses: The majority of the course requirements can be completed at a distance, but the course may require some on-campus meetings or labs.

Online courses are not the same as independent study. While readings and assignments are typically completed asynchronously (at any time and from anywhere), there are deadlines for assignments and may be set times, dates, and pre-approved locations for proctored exams. In addition, there may be occasions where students will be working in groups. In most cases, courses begin with the start of the semester or term and continue throughout the same time frame as on-campus courses.
