Eligibility for Financial Aid
Students are eligible for aid based on their financial need. Financial need is based on the information you provided on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Financial Aid is subject to change based on availablility of funds, changes in enrollment, and/or your academic progress.
The student is required to maintain satisfactory academic progress toward his/her degree. The minimum satisfactory academic policy requirements include:
- A cumulative GPA of 2.0
- Completion of 67% of credits attempted
- Reaching or exceeding 150% of the maximum credits needed for attainment of your chosen degree or certificate (including transfer credits). If you meet this you are no longer eligible for aid.
Academic progress will be monitored at the end of each academic term. After the first term of unsatisfactory progress, the student will be put on probation for the next academic term of enrollment. If, after two consecutive terms in which the student has not met the minimum standards for academic progress, the student will be suspended from financial aid for a semester. When a semester has passed, the student may go through an appeal process before applying for financial aid eligibility, but will remain on probation for the first term of enrollment. To be removed from financial aid probation, the student must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 and complete at least 67% of credits attempted.
Financial Aid Appeal
Students suspended from financial aid for academic progress have the right to appeal based on unusual or extenuating circumstances.
Examples of extenuating circumstances include, but are not limited to:
- medical issues
- death of an immediate family member
- other unique circumstances
To appeal, the student is required to contact the student services office at the campus they are attending.
If a student has completed in excess of 150% of maximum credits needed for attainment of chosen degree or certificate (including credits transferred), he/she is no longer eligible for aid and must contact the financial aid office at the campus they are attending.
